Although I’ve seen Swasha around I’ve not really known her very well and I still don’t know her as much as I would like to. But through the little interaction we’ve had on the sets of Hamlet, I can tell she’s a great gal :)

At Elsie’s Bar, Swasha Perera plays the role of Ophelia, the namesake of Hamelt’s girlfriend and the inspiration for Gertrude.

During rehearsals we’ve often made fun of her character Ophelia by calling her The Gold Digger and she responds to all of us fondly as an older sister would to her younger siblings.

I’ve had fun working with her and will miss her terribly once Hamelt is over, for sure.

Swasha is the first on the list of people that is to follow that I want to say thank you to for the little things you have all done for me in the months we’ve worked together.

There have been times when I’ve had to work on Sundays so I would go for rehearsals first and then head to office. On days like that it was Swasha who dropped me off, so thank you :) And also thank you for the yummy beef patty that I finished before anyone else could even get to it…

I can now say that I never thought I’d get as attached to this production as I have today and I can’t wait for opening night.

So come watch Swasha Perera as Ophelia in Hamelt at Elsie’s Bar, from the 20th of February to the 1st of March (leaving out the 23rd and 24th) at the Lionel Wendt. Tickets and Box Plan are available together with the cast schedule. Swasha will be performing on all nights.
